FEDERAL APPELLATE ATTORNEY IN WASHINGTON D.C. & MARYLAND

Before, during and after trial, judges make decisions which substantially affect your rights. These decisions include whether the prosecution can use certain evidence against you at trial; whether the jury can listen to certain testimony, or whether the judge correctly applied the Federal Sentencing Guidelines during a sentencing hearing, to name a few.

However, Judges sometimes make mistakes which could cost you years behind bars. A judge’s decisions in a federal case can be appealed to a United States Court of Appeals and if necessary to the United States Supreme Court.

My office regularly handles federal criminal appeals. An experienced appellate attorney will help explain what appellate remedies are available, what procedural deadlines are upcoming and the likelihood of success on appeal, which will hinge on the facts and circumstances of a particular case.

United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia

The United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia has appellate jurisdiction for the appeals that originate from the United States District Court in Washington, D.C. Many current and former Supreme Court justices were once members of this court. The Court is widely considered the second most important federal court in the United States, behind only the Supreme Court.

United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit

The United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit has appellate jurisdiction for appeals from the federal districts of Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, and West Virginia. The Court is in Richmond Virginia.

Experience Matters
