UNITED STATES v. BROWN – UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF MARYLAND

My client was represented by another law firm when a jury found him guilty of multiple counts of mail and wire fraud (18 U.S.C. §. § 1343, and 1341). His sentencing range under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines was 188-235 months (15-20 years). The government claimed the total loss value at 3.6 million dollars. He hired me to represent him at his sentencing hearing. I presented significant mitigation evidence on my client’s behalf. The judge sentenced him to 96 months (8 years), a sizeable departure from the recommended sentence under the Guidelines.

UNITED STATES v. YOUNG – UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE DISTRICT OF MARYLAND

My client was charged under 18 U.S.C. 922(g), with being a felon in possession of a handgun. I believed the police illegally searched his home and car. I filed pretrial motions asking the judge to suppress the evidence against my client. The prosecution dismissed all charges against my client before our court hearing.
